Go Ahead! Give Someone A Compliment!

Compliments are kind words of acknowledgement about something nice or good you notice about yourself or another person. Notice I included the term 'yourself'!

When you compliment another person or yourself, you are highlighting the goodness you are observing. Compliments can be about a person's kindness, attitude, or material possessions. Whatever or whoever you are complimenting yields as much benefit for YOU as it does the other individual.

Our words and thoughts are like boomerangs, always coming back to us! We create energy fields with our thoughts, words, and deeds.

I have always been free with giving compliments and I am writing about it here so others can be aware of how beneficial compliments are as we traverse this earthly plane.

Compliments do the following:
  • Serve as icebreakers. (Ever complimented someone on their well-behaved or good looking kid? What about when someone does well on an exam or gets a new job?) Any acknowledgement of what you see good about yourself or someone else is a compliment.

  • Encourages more of the goodness being complimented. (The next time your spouse, significant other, or even former spouse, does something good or looks great, give them a compliment! Do this for yourself as well. If you look in the mirror and you like your outfit or hairstyle, say "Insert Your Name Here, you look great.") This will make you or the other person want to keep up the goodness being complimented.

  • Shows appreciation. (Saying "Thank you." is a huge compliment!) Saying thank you not only acknowledges what was said or done well, it is a show of appreciation and value for the actions or words of whomever you are saying thank you to.

Dear Readers, I am sure you can identify more benefits of giving and receiving compliments so feel free to post comments. Enjoy your day, and THANK YOU for Reading My Blog.

Go with the flow (or snow)

We never know what will happen from one day to the next. Last week (23-26 Jan), I visited San Antonio, Texas and the weather ranged from sunny to raining to being so cold that ice was on the roads. However, by the time I left I wished I had another day to spend there because the weather was gorgeous!

Today I am in Louisiana where I woke up to snow on the ground.

I have not lamented once about the variations in weather. To lament (complain) would be a waste of time. Instead I made the best of all weather conditions. And today I am enjoying hot chocolate and writing!

It's not the weather (or unpredictability) in your life that is important; it is how you respond that matters!

Best wishes for your optimal health and wellness,
